Tendonitis

Tendonitis is caused by repetitive motion, overuse, or strain on tendons, often from activities like sports, heavy lifting, or typing. Aging, improper technique, trauma, and certain medical conditions such as arthritis or diabetes can also increase the risk by weakening tendons and making them more prone to inflammation.

Symptoms of Tendonitis

Pain: A dull or sharp pain near the affected tendon, often worsening with movement.

Swelling: Swelling and inflammation around the tendon.

Stiffness: Limited range of motion or difficulty moving the joint.

Warmth or Redness: The affected area may feel warm to the touch and appear red.

Tenderness: Sensitivity when touching the tendon or joint.

Treatment Options for Tendonitis

  • Rest: Avoiding activities that aggravate the tendon to promote healing.
  • Ice Therapy: Applying ice to reduce swelling and numb pain.
  • Anti-Inflammatory Medications: Using NSAIDs like ibuprofen to control pain and inflammation.
  • Physical Therapy: Exercises to stretch and strengthen the tendon, improving function.
  • Corticosteroid Injections: Injections to reduce severe inflammation in persistent cases.
  • Supportive Braces or Splints: Wearing braces to immobilize the area and prevent further strain.
  • PowerCure laser therapy: effectively reduces pain and inflammation in tendinitis by promoting healing through targeted light energy.
